Back into an Eight Passenger Rig

So, we got up at 2:00 in the morning, to drive to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, (5+hours away) to pick up our 'new' truck.  It needs a bit of work, but we got it for enough under book listing price, that we were able to get some extra cash, in the 'loan' (which we plan to pay back in it's entirety, when we sell our van, which will hopefully happen before the first payment is due on the loan, in two months!) we can use the extra cash to do the fixing it needs. The engine is sound and the transmission is in good shape, so it should be a great truck for us.  SO nice to be back into an 8 passenger rig!!  It's purdy too (except I liked the green one we looked at first a bit better - but in the end, they decided to keep it, at this price, I'll take the red one thankyouverymuch).  It has a few dings here an there, but that just makes it so that mommy won't be TOO frustrated when the inevitable dings happen to it with us driving it.  The driver's seat will probably have to be replaced or else repaired extensively, and the steering wheel too.  We may try to see if we can replace the top console.  I have really missed having the external temp reading, and that is in that top console, so not working at the moment.  But not sure how much it's worth to have that, either.  Anyway - I'll try to get some better photos of it tomorrow - this is just the one from the Craigs List ad, because we didn't get home till after dark - but whether I'm able to get better pictures of it in the morning will, of course, depend on if we actually get the 3 inches of snow they are predicting for tomorrow or not.   (glad we did that driving today!)

  1. They are coming through now....I think it's because when I signed up before i forgot to go to the confirmation page. Never thought about not being able to go all in one vehicle... nice.

    1. yeah, it's been a bit of a pain, to not be able to fit all of us in one car. Not too bad. But we have a vacation coming up in the fall, where we are driving about 7 hours away, and the thought of taking two cars was icky, and we are also planning to drive out to the NW in the summer of 2014. And, besides, we just miss our Excursion. I should probably tell the story of how we found this car... Maybe I'll do that when this whole 'changing the van in for two other cars' endeavor is all done. If it goes as we are hoping, and praying it will, we will trade our old Honda van in for an Excursion and another small car, for running around town (the Excursion will remain parked most of the time, only being used when we NEED that third vehicle and/or ALL need to go somewhere together) We are really hoping to not end up with much if ANY new debt (our current two cars are both paid for, so I'm REALLY hoping we can stay in 'car-payment free' land!). Keep that in your prayers. We still have to do the fixing on this one, and sell the van, and then find another small car for in the $2000 range. We ordered most of the needed parts last night and spent less than $30!! We are hoping to do most of the 'fixing' for less than the $500 that we talked him down to. The drivers seat needs some work, and the steering wheel. But those are both cosmetic, they are functional, just not pretty. We need to find one in a junk yard, that we can salvage parts off of.

  2. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story. We have been trying to live Biblically since we studied the principles, after becoming Christians again. In our day and age it is not made easy, esp. socially. But we have found the blessings in waiting, far out weigh the social piece of it. Have prayed that the van sells and things work out for you guys with your cars. God will bless!
