Busy day today. We are trying to get caught up on school work that we got behind on last week. And tending to the cats. We had the phone consult with the holistic vet in Florida at 3:00 this afternoon. He gave us several lines of attack and a fair bit of hope. It took a bit to gather all the stuff he wanted us to use, including several phone calls to find some of it, and a trip to a health-food store that is about 25 minutes from here (But fortunately right near Costco, where I needed to return something). But we did manage to gather it all, and get him dosed up. The vet said that we should see a marked improvement in his demeanor within 24-48 hours. I sure hope he is right. : ) If he is, I am SO looking forward to taking the cats back to Dr. Pitman and encouraging him to refer future FIP patients to the Dr. in Florida!
And in the midst of all of this the weather was remarkably warm today - like, over 70, I believe! Though the sun wasn't shining in particular. When we ran out this evening, just before sundown, I was out without a jacket, and in my Birkenstocks (that would be with NO socks - thankyouverymuch - we may be FROM the NW, but we LIVE in the SOUTH - HELLO!) and this evening, we have the ceiling fan on in our bedroom!
At about 10:30 or 11, the wind picked up, just as predicted. And it's supposed to be quite windy for the next 24 hours, with about a 5% chance of severe stuff blowing through. When I checked the weather web-sites, just now, the county just to the north and west of ours, up in Tennessee is on Tornado watch even now (along with many other counties in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky) ('watch' is the lower level of alert - it basically means 'pay attention' - 'warning' means 'go in your shelter') and there are also several Tornado Warning areas, over near Memphis and in Mississippi and Kentucky too, I think.
I don't know why, but I am at peace, mostly. Perhaps because we were so focused on the cats today, that there was no 'brain power' left to worry and fret about weather. I got a text message an hour or so ago, from the friend who's family took us in after the storm in 2011. She's nervous. I don't know, I'm just not. On windy nights, we usually have the girls sleep in the living room, because we have a LOT of tall trees around our house (that DO make me rather nervous!) and their rooms are all on the second floor. But they are all in their rooms tonight. It was too complicated with the kittens as a part of the equation to have them sleep down here. And they all WANTED to stay in their own beds, so it must not be bothering them too much either. I guess something (else) to focus their energy on is a good thing. Distraction.
Anyway, if you read this, and it's not already too late, say a little prayer, anyway. Wouldn't hurt!
Sounds as though you are learning to cast it at the cross, and not pick it back up. =).
ReplyDeleteThat is super exciting about your kittens...will look for your report to hear how they are doing.
I too am behind on school....my Dad has been here for 8 days and leaves bright, and early tomorrow morning. We will be back on a schedule and my beloved pajamas will see the light of day. Lol!
Will say a prayer for your family once I post!
Thanks! The main squall line is past us now, it's just supposed to be rainy and a bit windy today, but no more severe stuff. Enjoy your PJ's - my student is here, so I have to go get dressed. :)
DeleteElliot is feeling better already, he was up, meeting Lon at the top of the stairs, when he went up to get Sarah's violin (we always put the musical instruments in the closet under the stairs when we go on 'tornado watch'). And he was half way down the stairs when Lon came back, to come downstairs. When Lon carried him upstairs and set him down, he hopped right back up and headed back down the stairs, faster than Lon could! And this morning, he is much more alert and his belly is smaller. : ) : ) : )
So very cool! Sounds like prep for storms is part of living in that area, I really had no idea until you lived there. Weird, huh?!
DeleteWell I was up most of the night with Morgan puking, he's only puked maybe twice (after he got over the milk pukes, those don't count) in his life. He was so done with the whole business after one bout...four hours later he was bargaining with God...now how did he learn that? He's been praising God for feeling better today...mommy with less than 4 hours is thanking God in advance for the long night of sleep that I'm hoping to get, tonight!
Glad your keeping up on your blog.
