grrrr...  had an entry partially written and then LOST it.

Ah, well, we shall try again.  I'm a little slow on the draw, I guess, but I'm thinking more and more about this whole New-Year's Resolution thing and I'm thinking one goal I might like to have for myself this year, (besides walking more) is to do more blogging.  I also want to take the 'website' up a notch or two.  Maybe including things like, options for people to purchase my artwork, and various blogs by various kids with information about various projects they are working on, etc.  It might become a sort of digital family record.  I saw a cool journal thing that someone posted, of how they journal the happenings of their family in this really cute book that the mom created.  I'm thinking this will become something similar to that, but, here, online, instead.  Maybe we will eventually include a calendar, recording the things that various people did each day, sort of as a record, to look back over.  Annie and Sarah are going to be doing some web design learning, and I may decide to learn right along with them, and revamp this whole thing into our very own family web-site.  Who knows.  I'd also like us to take the thankfulness challenge, and start recording the things we are thankful for, each day.  This seems like as good of a place as any, for us to do that.  And maybe also include things that are on our prayer list at the moment (as much as possible, being careful about the privacy of others).
Some people focus their blog on one particular topic.  I'm not very good at that.  There are a great many topics that catch my interest over the coarse of a month, or even a week, or even a day.  Or even a moment...  hmmm (maybe I should include ADHD on the list below)...  so it will, naturally be a rather eclectic progression of thoughts.  But those of you who know me, will be rather used to that I think...  some of the topics I could easily see being addressed here, regularly, will be:
         RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder)
         FAD (Fetal Alcohol Syndrom)
         PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder)
                       (also known as Atypical Autism)
Parkinson's Disease (my Dad has it)
         Motherless Mothers
         Adoption
         Homeschooling
         Being Married to an Engineer
         Natural Healing
         Mental Health
         Larger than Average Families
Life with 3 (soon to be 4) teens in the house
         Teen Drivers
         College age kids
         Summer camp
         Crafts
         Sewing
         Cooking
         Gluten Free Cooking
         Travel with kids
         Christianity/Spirituality
         Disaster Preparedness
         Disaster Survival Observations
         Chickens
         Gardening
         Natural Building
         Favorite Books
         Favorite Products
         Pinterest/Facebook
         Vacation Bible School
         Pathfinders

and many many many others I'm sure....
Anyway...  here goes....  I'm going to try to post something new here nearly every day.  Whatever I'm thankful for, or excited about or perplexed by on that particular day, or at that particular moment when I sit down to write.
PLEASE comment!!!  I'm kind of thinking this may sort of replace Facebook for me, as I'm getting more and more frustrated with the way they are always messing with things and changing things around over there.  I enjoy your feedback and I will likely respond to your questions.
So, the new thing in 2013 for me, is my blog.  Welcome to my more active blog.  Happy 2013.

  1. Well, kind of like a hodgepodge of family - like I do :-) and by the way, you can upload your blog into a book later so post lots of pictures. They turn out awesome!

  2. yup - you inspired me - could you give me some pointers? - I'd like to have my calendar look something like this:http://www.flickr.com/photos/tracyu/5404784033/ - - not that extravagant, but that general idea, obviously not showing up until it was completed, either for the month, or the day or the week, not sure how to tackle that. Would I need to create that somewhere else (gimp), and then just paste it in. Also, to add the lists (thankfulness, prayers). I added 'list' gadgets, but I wasn't happy with the way they looked, they just showed up at the bottom, inside that gray bar, with no title, or anything, and I'm concerned that they won't be easy to edit and add to from there, and that the entire list won't be kept for posterity. It's almost like I want a second and third 'post' element. I don't think there is a way to do that.... and please!! Tell me MORE about the 'upload and make a book' thing!!!!

  3. Oh, I'm so glad that you will be posting here more! I've been slowing down on my FB usage too, and have deleted a bunch of my photo albums to keep my pictures from being misused.

A blog book? Sounds like lots of fun! I love making photo books of our big vacations on Snapfish, so a blog book would be really neat! Don't think I'll start blogging just to make a book of it though. I'm not consistent enough with journaling/making a diary, so a blog would really be a stretch for me. Looking forward to your more active blog!

  4. I've never done anything too fancy... but if you look for gadgets elsewhere and use the code here it often works. I don't know where to get such a nice calendar as that!!

So, I uploaded my posts to booksmart from blurb.com and the entire blog was added to the book... then I went back and deleted pages, rearranged pictures, added more, etc... comes out amazing. There are a few other companies. One that I tried was really good at uploading and everything but didn't give me the options to make my pictures the sizes I wanted. I dumped it before printing. With blurb ALWAYS look for coupons. Sales come up all the time.

Do you care to take the captcha off your comments? that makes it so much more inviting for people to comment. You will get some spam, but it's easy to spot and delete. In fact blogger spots most of it for you.

  5. good idea about the captcha - I'll see what I can do about that - it's all so new to me!! I LOVE the sound of the whole Blurb thing!! That is exciting. I always feel it's such a waste, how facebook just sucks up my statuses and there is no (good) way to get them back out. I can hardly wait to make a book of 2013!!

  6. hmmmm... not seeing how to go about removing that captcha - can you point me in the right direction?

  8. Sharon, to get rid of the captcha, to go Design, at the top of the page; then settings, down the left side; then posts and comments; then choose no under Show word verification. How I've not got you lost.

    1. Thanks - just did it - since the captcha doesn't show up for me, someone is going to need to let me know if I succeeded or not.

  9. Btw....it usually takes me at least a couple times to post because I can't read those spam filters so your blog is TRULY friendly to me. I'm going to be asking you if you have problems down the road with it though, although if you put that filter in I suppose that will answer my question, lol.

    1. which filter, the captcha thing? A good friend who suggested originally that I take it out is a prolific blogger and if she says she doesn't have much trouble with spam, then I'm guessing I won't either. In fact I don't think any of the blogs that I follow use that thingy. Apparently, Blogspot does a pretty good job of filtering out spam for you. We'll see though, I will keep you posted.
